The Reasons I Chose Adoption - A Birth Mothers Love
“My name is Angie, and I’m here to tell you why I chose Adoption Angels, but before I get started, I would like to share why I chose Adoption and the feelings, thoughts, and worries that came across me. I knew that if my family and friends knew I was going to place my baby up for adoption, I would no longer have correspondence with any of them because giving a child up is not easy. This is when you have to tell yourself if you know in your heart that you cannot provide for your child, you put this selfishness away and do the right thing.
I contacted Adoption Angels days before my daughter was due to be born. I was in a domestic violence relationship. I was not stable, and I was using drugs heavily. The same family that I knew would judge me for placing my daughter for adoption is the same family that was not even that for me. Who was there for me was Adoption Angels. When my daughter was born, I still had time to think if I still wanted to go through the process. I thought about what kind of future I wanted for my daughter, and I was given books of families to go through that would be my daughter's new parents. I read each and everyone very closely and paid very close attention to their backgrounds. Finally, my fourth book and I found the couple that I wanted to be my daughter's parents. The love they proposed made my heart melt. When it was time for me to meet the couple, I didn’t second guess anything, and I trusted the process. I decided on open adoption, which for me meant that the parents would update me with pictures, phone calls, and emails and one day have visits. I have to say I am on that chapter today, and I am now getting to meet my daughter over Zoom. I am so blessed and happy that her parents have trust in me. If you’re having second thoughts about placing your child for adoption, think of it this way: would you want your kid struggling the way you have? Would you not want your kids to have what they need because you can’t provide for them? Or would you want your kids to live the best life that they could because you chose a family that you know can provide the future you dream and want for them? The choice is completely up to you. Adoption Angels sets the foundation of change and hope for the future. Don’t give up on yourself, and don’t let others determine your life. I can speak from experience, I don’t regret anything. Take care and make the right choice that’s best for you."
